BOARD MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 9, 2023

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Chairman Dean Liddicoat.

Present: Dean Liddicoat, Mark Sieling, Jeff Lindner, Michelle Wendhausen, Sam Palzkill, Josh Husom

Others Present:  List Attached

Confirmed compliance with open meeting law.  Posted August 7, 2023 at the Town Hall and on the Township website.

Minutes from the July 12, 2023 Board meeting were approved on a motion by Jeff, second by Mark. Carried.

Representatives of Mineral Point Fire Dept explained how payment from the State for accidents on highways comes to the Township and is then forwarded to the fire dept.  Motion by Mark, second by Jeff to forward payments the Township receives to  MPFD.  Carried.

Public Comments:

Jane Potocki – thanked the wind turbine ad hoc committee members for their work.

Stosh Potocki – the Township needs a smart growth plan.  It is possible to prevent foreign corporations from taking control.

Chris Ladd – presented a DNR map of areas not recommended for wind turbine or solar applications.  Our area is  within this area.

Charley Rule – power plants are  closed.  Turbines provide local jobs

William Neal – thanked the ad hoc committee members for their work.

Kathy Ladd – Iowa County natural scenic beauty plan.  There is a new gas power plant in the works.

John Foley – Thanked the wind turbine ad hoc committee.  Doesn’t believe there are health issues with the turbines.  Let the PSC do their job.

A contract with the Mineral Point Rescue Squad was approved on a motion by  Mark, second  by Jeff.  Carried.

Wind Turbine ad hoc committee report – Kathy Ladd presented a binder of findings/determinations of the Committee to the Board members and Clerk.  Action on the engagement letter to Jarchow Law LLC tabled on a motion by Mark, second by Jeff.  Carried

Chariman’s report – none

Patrolman’s report – reported on progress getting the brush mower in operation.  There have been two more service calls with Fabick Cat.

Discussion on the dump regarding eliminating waste oil and electronics collections and eliminating the 30 yard dumpsters.  Tabled to September meeting.

Bills approved with the exception of $13,158.90 to Fabick Cat Tractor Co for work installing the brush mower.  Motion by Mark, second by Jeff.  Carried.

Next meeting set for September 13, 2023.
